About Me

I am an Assistant Professor of Management at the University of South Alabama.

My research interests lie in the emotions (e.g., envy), traits (e.g., Dark Triad), behaviors (e.g., manipulative and abusive work behaviors), and individuals at work that society and organizations generally deem unwelcome, undesirable, and/or stigmatized. Through my research, I seek to create engaging, respectful, and inclusive workplaces for employees and managers. My research has been published in journals such as Journal of Organizational Behavior and Journal of Vocational Behavior

As an educator, I believe that students’ learning effectiveness is best achieved through the engaging delivery of clear and relevant materials, the provision of opportunities to develop critical thinking, and a sense of caring and individualization. I have had experience teaching classes in various sizes, content areas, formats (in-person vs. online), durations (16 weeks vs. 6 weeks), and levels (undergraduate, master, doctoral).

Beyond teaching, I have been actively involved in professional service functions. I have consistently participated in planning, leading, and chairing professional development workshops, symposia, and committees at major management and industrial/organizational psychology conferences (i.e., Academy of Management, Society for Industrial and Organizational Psychology, and Southern Management Association). I have also volunteered for various conference-related roles (e.g., ambassador, mentor, reviewer, events calendar manager) and worked with colleagues across divisions and backgrounds (e.g., OB, HR, DEIO, and Careers divisions). I have helped review articles for journals like Human Relations, Human Resource ManagementJournal of Business and Psychology, and Journal of Organizational Behavior.

I have been recognized for my research, teaching, and service. For example, I received First Place Best Paper Award, Outstanding Teaching Assistant Award, PHIL Student Success Grant, The Kenneth T. Key Fund from the University of Iowa; Summer Research Grant from the University of South Alabama; and Service Award from the HR division of Academy of Management. In 2022, I was chosen as the first cohort for the Journal of Business and Psychology Scholars program.

I earned my Ph.D. in Management from the Henry B. Tippie College of Business at University of Iowa and my M.A. in Human Resources and Industrial Relations from the Carlson School of Management at University of Minnesota.
